Different Stages takes up this theatrical adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s dystopian novel. Set in the 24th century, it’s a gripping story that is both disturbing and poetic about a firefighter, Guy Montag, whose job it is to start fires to destroy books. He never questions the destruction, returning each day to his bland life and his wife, Mildred. But when he meets a young eccentric neighbor, Clarisse, her curious nature and her humanist philosophy push him to question the emptiness of his life.

5. Artist talk at the Grayduck Gallery
2 p.m. November 27. Free. 2213 E. Cesar Chavez St. 512-826-5334, grayduckgallery.com.
“Anthropocene” examines the acceptance of what is visible from the outside versus what is below the surface. Artist Jonas Hart, Dameon Lester and Melissa Loop illustrate the importance of the larger image, systems or meaning emerging in the exhibition, which runs through December 4. Come to the Grayduck Gallery to hear the trio talk about their pieces, their processes and the ensemble performance. They probe important questions: How aware are we of our influence on our landscape?
