The contemporary art museum will open its next exhibition on Saturday

Saturday will be busy in Plainview.

This weekend will be the monthly Second Saturday celebration and a few activities are planned for the occasion as the Plainview Museum of Contemporary Art opens its next exhibition on the street.

“PAPER” is a collection of works by several artists – all teachers from universities across the state. The exhibition is curated by Kelly Moran. It will be open until the end of May.

Featured artists include Carlos Hernandez, Richard “Ricky” Armendariz, Sangmi Yoo, Ryan O’Malley, Liv Monique Johnson, Jesse Shaw, and Xenia Fedorchenko.

The artists come from a variety of backgrounds with several credits to their name.

They have worked with collections around the world. For example, Armendariz has presented works in South Korea, Bethlehem, Tel Aviv, Germany and India. O’Malley’s work has been exhibited in Estonia, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Italy and China, to name a few. Shaw has been featured in exhibits in New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, and more.

The local art museum strives to host at least three major exhibitions each year highlighting a variety of talented artists from around the world.

The museum is also a service organization.

Those interested in browsing the museum can do so from Friday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance to the museum is free and open to all.
