The Big Easel Art Festival underway at River Ranch

More than 70 artists sell their designs at the Big Easel Art Festival in River Ranch on Saturday.

The festival takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the town square of River Ranch in Lafayette

The pieces on display and for sale during the festival will cover a variety of mediums including acrylic, pottery, porcelain, mixed media, oil, photography, metal, jewelry, wood, glass, l encaustic, clay, watercolor, fiber, etc.

Delie Putnam, one of the featured artists, spoke to KATC’s Abby Breidenbach about the festival and explained why it’s one of her favorite events of the year.

More than 60 local artists will be presented at the Big Easel on Saturday

“The set is pretty with the white tents and the music and the kids, families and people are walking around, enjoying, talking and looking at fine art,” says Putnam.

She said the event is important for artists who have had fewer opportunities to show their work in person this year due to the pandemic.

“I sell my art online and am grateful to have this ability, but seeing art in person is everything,” she said. “I don’t speak for all artists, but my art, I feel like it never translates well digitally, but when people experience it in person, they can see it in person, it it’s special to just watch people connect. “
