The annual four-week holiday shopping event will feature handmade artwork, jewelry and gifts from around 200 regional and local Austin artists.

To celebrate the start of the holiday season, businesses across town are hosting a variety of events, including bazaars, tree lights, and themed art classes. Here are some other options for things to do this weekend:

Friday November 24
Art exhibition kicks off the holiday season

The Blue Genie Art Bazaar showcases the work of over 200 artists offering a wide variety of freebies. Participants can expect to find paintings, photographs, prints, sculptures, jewelry, clothing, accessories, glassware, ceramics, etc. The bazaar will run until December 24. Free.

Articulture Designs organizes the Green Friday sale

Customers are encouraged to bring non-curbside recyclable items in exchange for a 10% discount on the entire purchase. Acceptable items include batteries, metal, and styrofoam. Even without recyclable items, visitors can bring a bag and pick up potting soil for free. Cookies, pastries, wine and beer will also be available. To free.

Be part of the Art Garage Christmas tradition

Art Garage art studio welcomes families for its Santa Hands Ornamental Art Class. Art teachers will help cut the clay around a child’s handprint to turn the handprint into a Santa Claus. Ten days later, the children can come back to paint their ornament. $ 16 per ornament. Prepayment is required.

Kick off the holiday season with the 52nd Annual Zilker Tree Lighting

Zilker Park tree lighting is an annual tradition in Austin. Access to the Zilker tree is independent of the Trail of Lights admission. The ceremony will feature local entertainment, food, news and live music with performances by the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, Barton Hill Choir and Vintage 15. Free.
