Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library (FOL) are thrilled to announce the opening of their latest art exhibit “Art and Lure of the Fish in Florida”. It will run from March 1 to June 30, 2022, during the return of the Fernandina Beach Eight Flags Shrimp Festival and will showcase the allure of fishing in Florida.

The exhibit features many different examples of fish art and memorabilia – all on loan from well-known members of the community such as Billy Burbank of Burbank Trawl Makers, Captain Terry Lacoss of Amelia Angler Outfitters, Charles Corbett of the former Nassau Fertilizer and Oil Company and Captain Bunny Sterling. Other notable pieces are on loan from Steve Leimberg, Jody and Doug Mackle, Peggy Bulger, Joanne and Steve Roach, Ken Krassy, Debbie Lippe and Diane Pusillo.

“Florida Art and Fish Lure” features many different artistic techniques including mosaic, photography, oil and acrylic, lithography, woodworking, fiberglass, ceramic and rug hooking. It also provides information about Fernandina Beach’s history of the shrimp and pogy fishing industries which are part of our past and current history.

The exhibit is open during normal library hours, unless there is a community meeting in the exhibit hall.
