Music and engraving at the children’s art festival in Venue Cymru
FAMILIES are invited to participate in dance, music, performance and crafts as part of an arts festival in Venue Cymru this month.
The Family Arts Festival will see a series of workshops and activities for children and youth over the coming weeks.
This includes a group of young songwriters with musician and songwriter Jon Guy, from New Sinfonia. The workshops will explore writing, performing and recording your own music. Participants – who must be between the ages of 12 and 18 – may not yet see themselves as composers or music makers, but these sessions aim to discover a creative voice and help it flourish. Kids will develop their own pieces, share and perform other people’s work, and work with other fantastic music makers who will give you incredible insight into music making that you might not have thought of before, 25-27 October.
A Different Workshop is inspired by the Book of Sheets from the Conwy Museum Collection, creating fabulous layered prints with printmaker Ruth Thomas. Using Ruth’s printing press, attendees – ages seven and up – will print directly from pressed sheets to create beautiful works of art to take home. Both sessions take place on October 25.
Another Book of Leaves Reflection Event asks attendees – ages seven and up – to bring collected leaves to the session led by artist Tara Dean. Through drawing and tracing, participants will transfer their findings and create a printed drawing inspired by their observations. The results of the process will be gathered in a small folded book in homage to the original Book of Leaves. This takes place on October 26.
