“Mook in Color” Watercolors Exhibition at Salisbury Business Center – Salisbury Post
Vernissage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on November 7
Salisbury Business Center is hosting a new art exhibition featuring original watercolors by local artist Mark (Mook) Brincefield. The exhibition, ‘Mook in Color’, will run from November 4 to January 4. 24 hours and is available to the public on weekdays during business hours.
The opening reception for ‘Mook in Color’ will take place next Thursday at SBC, 301 S. Main St., and is free and open to the public. Live acoustic music provided by Tom Williams.
“Mook” has been the nickname of painter, sculptor, designer and musician Mark Brincefield since he was a young adult. For the past 30 years, Mook has been a familiar component of the Salisbury Post newspaper as a Sunday editorial cartoonist. What we don’t see are the countless watercolors, ranging from landscapes to barns to portraits.
When Mook isn’t drawing, you can find him throwing paint in his studio, listening to his favorite musicians (Bob Dylan,
Tom Waits, Leon Russell, Lou Reed, Ray Charles, and more), many of whom are depicted in his larger watercolors, which also include musicians Muddy Waters, Fats Domino, Miles Davis, Chubby Checker and Ray Charles, to none name a few.
Brincefield transitioned from draftsman to watercolourist in 1994. His collection, and this exhibition at the Salisbury Business Center, includes landscapes, barns, portraits and still lifes.
