The holidays are upon us and the Morton Museum of Cooke County is getting ready to party.
Kicking off the festivities will be Holiday at the Harvey House Luncheon and Art Bazar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 30 at the Santa Fe Depot Museum. This post-Thanksgiving event brings back nostalgia for a time when young women found their independence serving westbound train passengers on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroads.
In Harvey Girl fashion, the Mortons’ friends in crunchy black and white will serve four course plates, accompanied by cold and sparkling and hot and aromatic drinks.
The art bazaar will offer unique ideas for finding the right gift from a dozen artisans in the region. Jewelry, arts, crafts and holiday treats will be for sale. The bazaar will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lunch is served back and forth from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All That Glitters is Gainesville events also include Gainesville’s Best of Chocolate and Holiday Home Tour, both on December 9.
The Vacation Home Tour will feature six homes this year, carriage rides, choirs, and holiday treats served at the Morton Museum from 3pm to 7pm. in a Victorian house on Church Street. The authors of the soon-to-be released book, “Great Movie Palaces in Gainesville, Texas,” will be at the reception to sign copies of this highly anticipated collection of facts, photos, anecdotes and nostalgia.
