Delaware Art Museum celebrates the holiday season with the Winter Arts Festival and more
Delaware Museum of Art in Wilmington is preparing to ring in the holidays with an arts festival.
Museum Director of Operations Heather Morrissey says the Winter Arts Festival became an annual event seven years ago. Last year, he moved outdoors for the first time due to the COVID pandemic.
Morrissey says the outdoor event has proven to be popular and therefore will be a hit again this year – on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
“This year we have no capacity restrictions,” Morrissey said. “So we have more vendors, we have more refreshments, we have more music and for the first time – we have a children’s train going around the property.”
The Winter Arts Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free for members and $ 5 for non-members.
A family event is Family 2nd Sunday December 12, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“We have a second family Sunday every month,” Morrissey said. “But in December, we have special guests and they create a work based on a piece in the museum’s collection. The event is free. But we recommend that you pre-register.
Morrissey says the museum will also broadcast live parts of Nutcracker for subscribers and other viewers on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 – before the opening of the ballet at the Playhouse in Rodney Square on December 17, 2021.
There are other events that you can find on the Museum website.
Delaware Public Media’s artistic coverage is made possible, in part, by support from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to the promotion and support of the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Foundation for the Arts.
