Cape Coral Art Festival & Marketplace takes over the promenade with works by a jury
The 37th Cape Coral Art Festival & Market Place, presented by the Rotary Club of Cape Coral, is scheduled for January 8-9. Selected artists and artisans from across the country will be joined by new and old exhibitors set up along Cape Coral Parkway.
“Art on the Parkway” will feature the work of Kindergarten to Grade 12 students submitted from across the county.
Artists featured this year in 2022 include Craig Dietrich of Oceans & Africa photography and Scott Macklin of Fantasy Jewelry. This year’s poster designer is Girard J. Moravcik from Colorful Creations by GJM.
A resident of Cape Coral and Medina, Ohio, Mr. Moravcik has been in the printing industry for over 40 years, specializing in color theory, and is the owner of a digital imaging business at Sharon Center, Ohio, which supplies printers across the country. He owns patents on special screening to bring vibrant photos to the dry offset printing industry, such as spray cans and plastic containers.
When the COVID pandemic began, Mr. Moravcik found himself confined to the house and decided to start creating tropical images from the photographs and images he had purchased. He used artistic techniques, surreal techniques, specialized lighting and color retouching to create vivid images with a unique depth of field. Using his knowledge of color theory, he was able to combine massive amounts of pigmentation and print contrast on unique substrates to create unprecedented vibrancy.
Mr. Dietrich served as a naval photographer during the Gulf War. After leaving the Navy, he became a diving instructor, eventually reuniting his loves for photography and diving by venturing into the world of underwater photography. He recently returned to his roots in top photography and in 2020, after his first trip to Africa, presented his “Safari Collection”.
Mr. Dietrich’s photograph has won numerous awards and has been sold in upscale galleries from Carmel, California to Fort Lauderdale. Its clientele includes collectors from all over the world.
Mr. Macklin has been a professional artist since 1977. His pieces are original creations hand carved in wax and then centrifuged by the lost wax method in sterling silver, 14k gold or jeweler bronze. Once this is completed, the personalized piece is aged and then hand polished to show off its beauty and detail.
