Sara Fitzmaurice Honors Nicholas Baume at Los Angeles Dinner


On Monday night, art PR maven Sara Fitzmaurice of Fitz & Co and her husband, art dealerPerry Rubenstein, hosted an intimate dinner in honor of Nicholas Baume, director and chief curator of the Public Art Fund.

Baume, who was in Los Angeles for several days before heading to his native Australia, was joined by 35 of Los Angeles and New York art-world luminaries for a sit-down dinner at Rubenstein’s Kulapat Yantrasast-designed Hollywood gallery.

Budding gallerist Hannah Hoffman, previously of Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, talked to the Museum of Contemporary Art’s Lyn Winter about the 2013 opening of her new space, located just down the street from Rubenstein. Meanwhile, Los Angeles collector Cliff Einsteinreminisced about the “Mad Men” era, when he worked as an ad exec on Madison Avenue.

Other notable guests included New York Times columnist Linda Yablonsky, artist Sam Durant, Hammer director Annie Philbin, and collector Justin Gilanyi. Baume’s recent projects include exhibitions of work by Monika SosnowskaOscar TuazonRob Pruitt, and the major career survey “Sol LeWitt: Structures 1965-2006.”
